BUE262 Planning New Ventures credits: 3<br />
Students interested in starting their own business or non-profit enterprise learn how to write and present a business plan, including<br />
market analysis, financial projections, and operating plan. This course is open to all <strong>Concordia</strong> <strong>University</strong> students.<br />
BUE311 Small Business Management credits: 3<br />
This course provides students with an overview of the different tasks and responsibilities associated with the general management<br />
of a small business or non-profit enterprise. Topics include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling in the context of a small<br />
organization, as well as group dynamics and decision-making, conflict resolution, managing diversity, and organizational culture<br />
and effectiveness. Management's social and ethical responsibilities are examined. Challenges posed by the transition from<br />
entrepreneurial start-up to mature organizations are discussed. Special issues that arise in family owned and operated firms are<br />
also explored. Prerequisite: BUS262<br />
BUS101 Introduction to Business credits: 3<br />
This course establishes a foundation for understanding American business. Students will gain knowledge of general business<br />
practices and topics including ethics, organizations, management, and marketing. Instructional software and a variety of<br />

BUS111 Leadership credits: 3<br />
This course introduces students to key concepts in leadership, organization, and leadership theory. Students gain knowledge and<br />
understanding of the various qualities and characteristics of leaders and gain practice in analyzing a variety of situations for<br />
leadership structure and issues. Developing personal leadership skills is emphasized. (Haab)<br />
BUS251 Information Management & Technology credits: 3<br />
This course builds the business student's understanding of the impact of information technology on organizations. It introduces<br />
students to a variety of topics including data management, telecommunications and networks, and the building of information<br />
systems while focusing on the key roles of decision making, ethics, and the impact of technology on capital and staff. (Haab)<br />

BUS311 Principles of Management (w) credits: 3<br />
This course introduces the student to the fundamental principles and practices of management. After a brief historical review, the<br />
concepts of organizational culture, globalization, and social responsibility are examined. The basic functions of managementplanning,<br />
organizing, leading and controlling are studied in depth. (Haab) Prerequisites: ENG101 & Junior standing<br />
BUS314 Administration of Human Resources I credits: 3<br />
Explores the theoretical and empirical issues of human resource management in modern organizations. Includes human resource<br />
strategic planning, the legal environment, job analysis, recruiting, selection, and human resource information systems. (ADP)<br />
BUS321 Business Law credits: 3<br />
Establishes a basic foundation for understanding business within the American legal system. It introduces the student to such<br />
topics as debtor-creditor relations, risk management, sales and leases, and negotiable instruments, with a concentration on crimes,<br />

BUS331 Principles of Marketing credits: 3<br />
This course introduces the student to the fundamental concepts and principles of marketing. The student will develop insights into<br />
the analysis of market opportunities, market segmentation, product and distribution planning, pricing strategies and the ethical and<br />
moral issues related to marketing's impact on society. (Haab) Prerequisite: BUS101 & Junior standing<br />
BUS332 Leadership in Marketing credits: 3<br />
Introduces the fundamental concepts and principles of marketing, and how the marketing function provides leadership within<br />
organizations (both nonprofit and for profit). The analysis of market opportunities, market segmentation, pricing strategies, sales<br />
promotion and ethical/moral issues related to marketing's impact on society are addressed. (ADP)<br />
BUS353 Finance credits: 3<br />
In this course, the student studies the financial management of a business firm. Students learn basic concepts of financing growth,<br />
the time value of money, cost of capital, capital budgeting, break-even analysis, financial analysis and forecasting, and<br />

BUS356 Organizational Behavior credits: 3<br />
This course introduces the student to the study and analysis of behavior in organizations as it relates to the practice of<br />
management. Interdisciplinary in nature, through this course the student will gain knowledge and understanding of group<br />
dynamics and decision making, managing diversity, conflict resolution, leading change, and organizational culture and<br />
effectiveness. Emphasis is placed on understanding individual behavior within group and organizational processes. (Haab)<br />

BUS357 Human Resource Management credits: 3<br />
Students learn the key concepts in building and maintaining the human resource function in business. Topics covered include<br />
