This secti<strong>on</strong> outlines how <strong>Siemens</strong> interprets the functi<strong>on</strong>s and processing functi<strong>on</strong>s<br />
according to EN 15232:2012.<br />
1. Plants required for "emissi<strong>on</strong> c<strong>on</strong>trol" of thermal <strong>energy</strong>, such as fan coils,<br />
chilled ceilings or VAV systems may have different supply media (e.g. water,<br />
air). As a result, different BAC soluti<strong>on</strong>s may be possible for a processing<br />
functi<strong>on</strong>.<br />
2. The <strong>Siemens</strong> interpretati<strong>on</strong> gives full c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong> to the processing functi<strong>on</strong><br />
in the functi<strong>on</strong> list of EN 15232: It includes thermostatic valves and electr<strong>on</strong>ic<br />
c<strong>on</strong>trol equipment.<br />
• N<strong>on</strong>-communicating electr<strong>on</strong>ic c<strong>on</strong>trol equipment may include a local<br />
scheduler. But experience suggests that they are often not correctly set.<br />
• Thermostatic valves are not used for "cooling c<strong>on</strong>trol".<br />
3. Communicati<strong>on</strong> between a superposed centralized unit and electr<strong>on</strong>ic individual<br />
room c<strong>on</strong>trollers allow for centralized schedulers, m<strong>on</strong>itoring of individual<br />
room c<strong>on</strong>trollers as well as centralized operati<strong>on</strong> and m<strong>on</strong>itoring.<br />
4. Demand c<strong>on</strong>trol (by use) = demand c<strong>on</strong>trol based <strong>on</strong> occupancy informati<strong>on</strong><br />
from a presence detector or a presence butt<strong>on</strong> with automatic reset after a<br />
set period. C<strong>on</strong>trol switches from Pre-Comfort to Comfort or the other way<br />
around using this occupancy informati<strong>on</strong> (see EN 15500).<br />

• Air quality c<strong>on</strong>trol is c<strong>on</strong>sidered in "Ventilati<strong>on</strong> and air c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>ing c<strong>on</strong>trol".<br />
• Occupancy informati<strong>on</strong> can influence "heating c<strong>on</strong>trol", "cooling c<strong>on</strong>trol"<br />
and "ventilati<strong>on</strong> and air c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>ing c<strong>on</strong>trol".<br />
