A. GRANT PERIOD
For the Grant Period specified above, the Grant Start Date is the first day that you can leave the United States on travel to
Vietnam for the designated program. The Grant End Date is the last day that you can be in Vietnam for obligations related
to the U.S. Faculty Scholar Grant. Your Grant Period is all encompassing from the Grant Start Date to the Grant End Date.
The actual period of teaching may be a shorter period of time within that comprehensive Grant Period. Your actual
preparatory and follow-up work dedicated to the U.S. Faculty Scholar Program may begin in advance of the Grant Start Date
and may continue after the Grant End Date.
You are required to have written permission from VEF in advance for any changes in the Grant Period.
Upon arrival in Vietnam for the first time during the Grant Period or on another date established by VEF, you are required to
attend a one-day Orientation at the VEF Hanoi Field Office during the regular work week, which will include a visit to the
U.S. Embassy. You must inform VEF at least 2 weeks in advance of the specific dates that you will be in Vietnam.

B. U.S. FACULTY SCHOLAR PROGRAM
You are considered the recipient of the VEF U.S. Faculty Scholar Grant, and, therefore, you are solely responsible for the
arrangements, details, processes, and outcomes of the U.S. Faculty Scholar Program, which you submitted as your
proposal for funding to VEF and for which you have been approved by VEF. Importantly, you are the primary person
teaching and you cannot have any substitutes for yourself as the Grant is provided to you.
The obligations and responsibilities of VEF include the following:
1. To review, select, and approve your U.S. Faculty Scholar Program and Grant;
2. To review, request modifications for, and approve your budget for the U.S. Faculty Scholar Program;
3. To organize relevant Orientations in the United States and in Vietnam;
4. To provide the Grant Funds directly to you or to your University, as you wish;
5. To oblige you to follow the teaching plan and budget as approved by VEF;
6. To require you to follow certain procedures as outlined herein; and
7. To provide you with the services of our VEF staff in case of an emergency.
While this arrangement provides a considerable level of independence to you, it also requires conformity to standards,
processes, and obligations as described herein. The end goals are both a high quality program and the notable and significant
success of the VEF U.S. Faculty Scholar Program.

C. U.S. FACULTY SCHOLAR PROGRAM COMPLETION
You are expected to complete the full period of the U.S. Faculty Scholar Program as specified within the Grant Period stated
above and to obtain approval from VEF in advance for any shorter or longer periods of stay related to fulfilling your
academic obligations under this program. Should a personal emergency necessitate a disruption of your intended program
and require your early departure from Vietnam and/or cancellation of class(es), you must do the following:
1. Obtain prior written approval first from your Vietnamese host institution(s) and then from VEF.
