where Interstates 90
and 94 divide, midway
between Minneapolis and
Milwaukee.
Cranberries play an
integral role in the local
agricultural economy as
well as providing a unique
attraction to visitors to
the area. Visitors can take
self-guided driving tours,
which will take them past
several cranberry marshes
and can also attend the
annual public harvest day
held the first Saturday in
October. Visit the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center
where you can sample cranberry products, browse the
gift shop, and bakery, and try some cranberry ice cream.

Frank King wrote the nationally famous comic strip,
“Gasoline Alley”. “Gasoline Alley” was based on actual
Tomah residents and was the first comic strip whose
characters grew up on the pages of newspapers across
the country.
The Tomah Cash Store has been a fixture in
downtown Tomah for the past century, dating back to
May 5, 1900. The
store got its name
by issuing cash to
farmers who sold
crops to the store
rather than credits,
which many stores
issued at the time.
Gone are the
groceries, first
delivered by horse
and wagon, and the
barrels of apples. The
store still sells namebrand
fashions, as
well as bib overalls,
but also carries
shoes, furniture, and
giftware. The Cash
Store continues to provide top quality items and service.
Tomah’s rich history includes the Tomah Area
Historical Society Museum. The museum features the
history of farming, manufacturing, lumber, railroading,
