scent of honeysuckle, and the apple blossoms that are so
abundant in May.
We want you to choose us as a destination for a
weekend trip . . . or longer if you prefer. You will be
surprised at all we have to offer. Stay over at one of our
bed and breakfasts, cabins, campgrounds, or motels for
a little bit of Richland hospitality. Explore our shops,
our restaurants, and our parks.
Richland
Community Forest
Just three miles south of Richland Center on
Highway 80, Richland Community Forest offers 358
acres of naturally landscaped valleys and hillsides
in which hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and trout
fishing by special regulation are allowed. As you hike
up through the fields, into the wooded area, you will get
the feel of the land . . . you will see brook trout in Ash
Creek . . . and you’ll hear the rustling of the leaves in
the trees. Squirrels romp through the floor of the forest
and then dash up the trunk of a tree as they curiously
watch you roam through their front yard.
Motorized vehicles are not permitted in Richland
Community Forest, but bring your horses to ride on the multiuse
trails and enjoy the quiet of the woods. Bring a picnic
lunch, and as you breathe in the fresh country air, you’ll be
reminded why you love the country so much.
Pine River
Recreation Trail
The Pine River Recreation Trail is open year-round for
the enjoyment of hikers, nature lovers, and bike riders alike.
Paralleling U.S. Highway 14, the trail is popular with bikers,
hikers, and in the winter,
snowmobilers. As the trail
disappears from the view of
the highway, it enters four
different ecosystems where
you'll find many species
of native wildlife, cactus,
wildflowers, and plants. One
of the longest curved bridges
in the “Rails to Trails” system
is midway on the 15-mile
route that includes 15 bridges.
You’ll see many bird and
wildlife species up close. Stop
along the way at any of the
picnic areas for a lunch. This
is a “carry-on, carry-off” trail,
with lots of stops between
Richland Center and Lone
Rock.
Pier
County
Park
Pier County
Park is located
in Rockbridge,
just nine miles
north of
Richland Center
on Highway 80.
This impressive
rock wall boasts
one of the only
natural bridges
in the state
of Wisconsin,
as well as a
walk through.
Camping on
top of the rock
is a unique
experience, and
one that will take you back to how it must have been in
the days of early settlers in the area.
Port Andrew
Boat Landing
Enter the waters of the Lower Wisconsin River just
east of the Blue River Bridge. The Port Andrew Boat
Landing lets you back your boat into the river to launch
on an adventure in these beautiful waters. Picnic or
lounge at the landing, and enjoy lure of the river on a
beckoning sunny day.
