Orchard Lawn/The Gundry House, built in 1868<br />
on 11 acres overlooking the historic business<br />
district, was the home <strong>of</strong> an early merchant<br />
family in Mineral Point. This stately house<br />
serves as a focal point for community activities<br />
and as a museum for artifacts <strong>of</strong> Mineral Point<br />
and Iowa County. It is open for tours May -<br />
October and makes an elegant setting for<br />
gatherings and festivities <strong>of</strong> all kinds<br />
throughout the year.<br />
GRANDVIEW – Former estate <strong>of</strong> Austro-Hungarian<br />
Empire immigrant, Nick Engelbert, a dairy farmer,<br />
story-teller and self-taught folk artist. A collection<br />
<strong>of</strong> concrete sculptures, mosaics, and paintings<br />
surround a small farmhouse.<br />

ODIST CHURCH -<br />
Built in 1851 in the<br />
fashion <strong>of</strong> Wesleyan<br />
chapels in Cornwall.<br />

Church building in<br />
continuous use in<br />
<strong>Wisconsin</strong>.<br />
WISCONSIN<br />
MONTFORT ENERGY (WINDMILL) FARM –<br />
(608) 623-2509. The Montfort Energy Farm is<br />
located west <strong>of</strong> Dodgeville just <strong>of</strong>f <strong>of</strong> Highway 18<br />
between the villages <strong>of</strong> Cobb and Montfort. The<br />
towering windmills sit on private property. Constructed<br />
in 2001, the wind-farm went on-line as<br />
each windmill was completed.<br />
GOVERNOR DODGE STATE PARK –<br />
(608) 935-2315. Three miles north <strong>of</strong> Dodgeville<br />
on Highway 23. Five thousand scenic acres with<br />
2 lakes, beaches, 266 campsites; horse riding and<br />
snowmobile trails within the park; eight large group<br />
camping sites.<br />
HOUSE ON THE ROCK – SPRING GREEN<br />
(608) 935-3639. Located on Highway 23 between<br />
Spring Green and Dodgeville. Designed and built by<br />
Alex Jordan in the 1940’s. The Main House on the<br />
Rock is 400 feet above the valley with superb views.<br />
Enjoy the Gate House, Mill House, antique collections,<br />
and world famous music machines <strong>of</strong> bygone eras.<br />
FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT’S TALIESIN.<br />
On Highway 23 between Dodgeville<br />
and Spring Green. Where the world<br />
famous architect lived and worked in<br />
<strong>Wisconsin</strong>. Guided tours <strong>of</strong> Taliesin<br />
and nearby Hillside School<br />
are available.<br />

miner homes on<br />

LANDS’ END – A 200 acre corporate headquarters<br />
<strong>of</strong> Lands’ End Direct Merchants.<br />
Tours available <strong>of</strong> the phone facility and video<br />
tour <strong>of</strong> the company’s history and state-<strong>of</strong>-theart<br />
distribution center. The Lands’ End Outlet<br />
Store is in historic downtown Dodgeville.<br />
CHEESEMAKING IN ARENA – In one <strong>of</strong><br />
the most northern parts <strong>of</strong> Iowa County,<br />
on the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> River.<br />
Visitors can view cheesemaking from a<br />
glassed-in room at the Arena Cheese<br />
company right on Highway 14.<br />
