Fennimore<br />

The wooded ridges and farmland valleys surrounding<br />

Fennimore are a sportsman’s dream. Springs band together to<br />

form trout streams such as the nationally famous Big Green River,<br />

the Little Green River, the Blue River and Crooked Creek, as well<br />

as the pioneering catch and release trout fishing sections <strong>of</strong> Castle<br />

Rock Creek.<br />

Fennimore is also home to two charming museums, The<br />

Fennimore Doll and Toy Museum & Gift Shoppe and the Fennimore<br />

Historical Railroad Museum; these cultural attractions <strong>of</strong>fer<br />

something for everyone. After shopping, you can eat at one <strong>of</strong><br />

the unique eating places. Fennimore’s 45 acre nature park <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

visitors a glimpse <strong>of</strong> native trees and flowers, with a wide variety<br />

<strong>of</strong> birds available for birdlovers to view. Three miles <strong>of</strong> hiking and<br />

cross-country ski trails entwine the park and the park also has RV<br />

parking.<br />

Hazel Green<br />

Establish in 1824, Hazel Green is <strong>Wisconsin</strong>’s “Point <strong>of</strong><br />

Beginning” – the place where the land survey began in 1831. Just<br />

outside <strong>of</strong> town lies the Point <strong>of</strong> Beginning Historical Marker.<br />

Many <strong>of</strong> Hazel Green’s historic buildings remain, including the<br />

<strong>Wisconsin</strong> House (1846) and the Opera House/Town Hall (1898).<br />

Lancaster<br />

Lancaster is situated in an area known for its rolling hills and<br />

picturesque valleys. Lancaster is home to the Grant County Fair<br />

held in August. Check the website: grantcountyfairwi.org. The<br />

county fairgrounds also hosts a number <strong>of</strong> community activities<br />

such as the high school rodeo, musical performances, arts and<br />

craft festivals and numerous agricultural events. Grant County hosts stock<br />

car races every weekend in the summer at the county fairgrounds. A stroll<br />

around the courthouse square, located in downtown Lancaster, can carry<br />

the visitor to an earlier time in our history. Inside the courthouse building,<br />

the rotunda and murals are striking examples <strong>of</strong> public building architecture.<br />

The grounds <strong>of</strong> the courthouse contain statues and monuments attesting to<br />

the rich history <strong>of</strong> the area.<br />

Lancaster is the City Hall, which is<br />

on the National Register <strong>of</strong> Historic<br />

Places. This striking building is<br />

an example <strong>of</strong> prairie-style architecture which was popular in the early 1900s.<br />

Visitors can see many beautiful older homes with architectural styles ranging<br />

from Frank Lloyd Wright to Queen Anne.<br />
