of the area from its early beginning to the present day are the highlight of the
exhibits.
Structures at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Tomah Public Library and
the “Little Red School House” in Gillett Park offer visitors a sense of history.
Tomah has an active calendar of events. Recreation Park hosts the Monroe
County Fair each summer. The park also hosts the number one tractor/truck pull
in the nation, the Wisconsin Dairyland National Tractor/Truck Pull each summer.
This rip roaring event brings competitors from across the nation
to Tomah.
Cross country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, hockey, skating and ice
fishing offer the visitor great winter activities.
Three golf courses, two 18-hole and one 9-hole, a variety of fascinating
restaurants, many unique shops and great hospitality bring people back time and
time again.
Tall bluffs rise abruptly from
the flat plains surrounding Oakdale,

area. Mill Bluff State Park offers

largest bicycle, a 30 foot tall high
wheeler bike with Ben Bikin riding on
the structure erected in 1997. The
world’s largest bicycle was built by the
F.A.S.T. Corporation in Sparta.
Sparta is host to the northern end
of the famous 32-mile Elroy-Sparta
State Bike Trail and the eastern end
of the 21.5 mile LaCrosse River State
Bike Trail. Each of these trails hooks
up with additional state bike trails
offering the bicycle enthusiast more
than 100 miles of biking pleasure.
The bike trails bring more than
60,000 visitors to the Sparta area
every year. The Elroy-Sparta Trail
boasts three cavernous tunnels and
more than 30 trestles for the bike
enthusiast to enjoy. Area businesses
offer bike rentals, shuttle services to
all trails, and sales and repair.
