Potosi, set in a long narrow<br />

valley, has the longest main street<br />

without an intersection in the<br />

world! The annual Potosi Catfish<br />

Festival is held the second<br />

weekend <strong>of</strong> August and each year<br />

the local fire department serves<br />

over a ton <strong>of</strong> locally caught<br />

catfish.<br />

2008, is located in the restored Potosi Brewery. Tastes <strong>of</strong> five different brews <strong>of</strong><br />

beer and root beer are available at the unique Great Room restaurant on site. Hear<br />

stories about the many steamships that docked at the “Port <strong>of</strong> Potosi”. Gift shop<br />

and Great River Road Interpretative Center are also located in the main building.<br />

If you’re looking for a place to camp, try the Grant River Recreation Area. This<br />

Sinsinawa Mound has been<br />

the home <strong>of</strong> the Sinsinawa<br />

Dominican Sisters for over 150<br />

years. This order <strong>of</strong> religious<br />

women was founded by Father<br />

Samuel Mazzuchelli in 1847 and<br />

since that time the Mound has<br />

served as an educational and<br />

cultural landmark within Grant<br />

County. Today Sinsinawa Mound<br />

hosts retreats and meetings<br />
