Proceedings<br />
<strong>The</strong> Center provides a comprehensive after-school program for children and youth, a<br />
summer enrichment program and <strong>of</strong>fers a gathering place for seniors four times a week.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Peter Paul Development Center is funded by grants from churches, foundations and<br />
individuals. <strong>The</strong> Rev. Lynne Washington serves as its executive director.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Executive Board <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Diocese</strong> gave its unanimous approval to name the Peter Paul<br />
Development Center as a related organization, and now the approval <strong>of</strong> the 213 th <strong>Annual</strong><br />
<strong>Council</strong> is requested.<br />
Coming from a Committee <strong>of</strong> <strong>Council</strong>, the president announced that the motion to admit<br />
the Peter Paul Development Center as a related organization needed no second. <strong>The</strong>re<br />
was no discussion. <strong>The</strong> president called for the vote and the motion passed. <strong>The</strong> president<br />
recognized the Rev. Lynne Washington, executive director <strong>of</strong> the Center, in congratulations.<br />
Ms. Ritchie continued:<br />
Thank you. In addition, the Committee has approved several slates <strong>of</strong> nominees and now<br />
presents them for your approval. All <strong>of</strong> these persons are either returning members to<br />
these various organizations, or are eminently qualified to serve, and I request permission<br />
to present all <strong>of</strong> the nominees at once.<br />
<strong>The</strong> president granted permission to proceed.<br />
Ms. Ritchie continued:<br />
For the Bloomfield Foundation: the Rev. William H. Burk.<br />
For the Trustees <strong>of</strong> the Funds, Ms. Lana Ingram Digges, Mr. James R. Harding, Mr. Roger<br />
D. Len, Mr. James T. Parkinson III, Ms. Jaqueline Williams.<br />
For the Diocesan Missionary Society, Ms. Karen Grane, Mr. Samuel A. Derieux, Mr.<br />
Henry Long, and as a continuing ex <strong>of</strong>ficio member, the Rt. Rev. David C. Jones.<br />
For <strong>Virginia</strong> Diocesan Homes, Mr. Jonathan Benner, Ms. Mary Jo Browning, Mr. John E.<br />
Cole, Mr. Richard K. Juergens Jr., Ms. Nancy H. Richardson, Mr. John Ritchie, Ms. Betsy<br />
Sue Scott.<br />
<strong>The</strong> president called the vote for approval <strong>of</strong> these nominees for the various<br />
organizations. Approval was granted. <strong>The</strong> president thanked Ms. Ritchie.<br />
Report <strong>of</strong> the Committee on Resolutions<br />
Bishop Lee called on the Rev. Jenks Hobson, Trinity, Washington, and chair for the<br />
Committee on Resolutions to <strong>of</strong>fer the Committee Report.<br />
Mr. Hobson first introduced the courtesy resolutions honoring Mary Lee Hearne<br />
Barringer, David Donaldson, Mary Saum Jenks, Morton Townsend, Sture G. Olsson and<br />
the Rt. Rev. Victoria Matthews.<br />
Mr. Hobson moved for the adoption <strong>of</strong> the courtesy resolutions. <strong>The</strong>y were adopted by<br />
voice vote.<br />
<strong>The</strong> president recognized Alan Barringer, the husband <strong>of</strong> Mimi Barringer, who was<br />
present at <strong>Council</strong>, and Mary Jenks.<br />
Mr. Hobson continued and introduced R-1a on environmental protection and climate<br />
change, and moved for its adoption as amended. <strong>The</strong> president called for discussion.<br />
