The Rev. James Petty
February 15, 1929-January 22, 2007
The Rev. James Petty, retired priest of the Diocese who
was living in Black Mountain, N.C., died on January
22. Born in Washington, D.C., Mr. Petty received his
M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1959
before being ordained to the priesthood by Bishop
Goodwin in 1959. He served as vicar at St. Francis’,
Great Falls, as curate at The Falls Church, Falls
Church, and as priest-in-charge at St. George’s, Pine
Grove. He and his wife, Nancylee, had two children.
