The 213th Annual Council - Diocese of Virginia

Proceedings
The president recognized the Rev. Lauren Stanley who spoke to a proposed resolution,
designated by the president as R-8, the Sudan Divestment Resolution. She called for
Council to support House Bill 556, currently before the General Assembly. Her motion to
admit the resolution for consideration was seconded and the resolution was admitted.
There were no additional resolutions or canonical amendments.
The president reminded Council that, according to the Rules of Order, resolutions and
amendments to the Constitution and Canons not submitted prior to Council are subject
to the provisions of the Rules of Order requiring two-thirds of the Council vote to allow
resolutions from the floor in order to be considered (Rule 5. B and C.)
The president also reminded Council that “No floor amendment to the proposed budget
will be considered unless the subject matter of the proposed amendment has been
presented to the Budget Committee prior to or during open hearings.”
