January 27, 2007<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Rev. Susan G<strong>of</strong>f, Ms. Martha High, Mr. Alexander Slaughter and the Rev. Daniel<br />

Robayo were elected to three-year terms on the Standing Committee.<br />

• Colonel Jean D. Reed, the Rev. Penelope Bridges and the Rev. Jesus Reyes completed<br />

their terms on the Committee. (Ms. Holly Semple died shortly before her term was to<br />

end at the 212 th <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Council</strong>).<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Rev. Dr. Hilary Smith was elected president and Ms. Sarah Bartenstein was<br />

elected secretary.<br />

February 15, 2007<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Committee unanimously approved a request by St. James’, Leesburg to incur<br />

indebtedness <strong>of</strong> $1.5 million for construction related to their “visioning process.”<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Committee approved the resolution expressing appreciation to the four other<br />

nominees for bishop coadjutor.<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Committee consented unanimously to the ordination and consecration <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Rev. Dr. Thomas E. Breidenthal as Bishop <strong>of</strong> Southern Ohio.<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Committee consented unanimously to the ordination and consecration <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Rev. Dabney T. Smith as bishop <strong>of</strong> Southwest Florida.<br />

March 9, 2007<br />

<strong>The</strong> Committee held a conference call with the Rev. Mark Lawrence to discuss his<br />

election as the bishop <strong>of</strong> South Carolina, after which members <strong>of</strong> the Committee<br />

privately discussed whether to consent to his consecration (<strong>Virginia</strong>’s Standing<br />

Committee having withheld its consent by a previous vote). With assurances from Mr.<br />

Lawrence that he did not intend to leave the Episcopal Church nor lead the <strong>Diocese</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> South Carolina from the Episcopal Church, a majority <strong>of</strong> the members <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Committee voted to give consent.<br />

March 15, 2007<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Committee consented to the ordination and consecration <strong>of</strong> the Very Rev.<br />

Shannon Johnston as Bishop Coadjutor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong>.<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Committee issued to the Standing Committees <strong>of</strong> the dioceses <strong>of</strong> the Episcopal<br />

Church requests for consent for the Very Rev. Shannon Johnston’s ordination and<br />

consecration as Bishop Coadjutor.<br />

April 12, 2007<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Committee consented unanimously to the holding <strong>of</strong> an election for a bishop<br />

suffragan by the <strong>Diocese</strong> <strong>of</strong> Alabama.<br />

• After ascertaining and considering the facts, the Committee determined<br />

unanimously that the Rev. Huey Sevier had abandoned the communion <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Diocese</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> and the Episcopal Church.<br />

• <strong>The</strong> Committee approved Ms. Louise Blanchard, Ms. Whitney Zimmerman, Ms.<br />

Lynn Holland, Ms. Elizabeth Rees, Mr. Fletcher Wells, Ms. Megan Hollaway, Mr.<br />

David Kendrick, Mr. Kenneth Malcolm, Ms. Barbara Marques, Ms. Cassandra Burton<br />

and Mr. Heewoo Daniel Han as candidates for Holy Orders.<br />

April 24, 2007<br />

On April 24, between meetings via e-mail, the Committee approved a line <strong>of</strong> credit for<br />

St. James’, Leesburg.<br />
