4.2.7. DMM 7: Public Information Programs<br />
MWDOC currently <strong>of</strong>fers a wide range <strong>of</strong> public information programs in <strong>Orange</strong><br />
<strong>County</strong>. Each program targets different water customer segments. For example, the O.C.<br />
<strong>Water</strong> Hero Program aims to encourage school children to use water wisely; MWDOC’s<br />
electronic newsletter “ecurrents” is designed to keep residents and businesses,<br />
stakeholder groups, opinion leaders, and others apprised <strong>of</strong> MWDOC news and<br />
programs. MWDOC’s current public information programs are described below.<br />
<strong>Water</strong> Facility Inspection Trip Program - The inspection trip program is sponsored by<br />
MWDOC and Metropolitan. Each year, <strong>Orange</strong> <strong>County</strong> elected <strong>of</strong>ficials, residents,<br />
business owners, and community leaders are invited to attend educational inspection trips<br />
to tour key water facilities throughout the state <strong>of</strong> California. The goal is to educate<br />
members <strong>of</strong> our community about planning, procurement and management <strong>of</strong> southern<br />
California’s water supply and the issues surrounding delivery and management <strong>of</strong> this<br />
vital resource. The inspection trips are specifically designed to address various water<br />
issues affecting the state, including water supply, delivery, treatment, sustainability, the<br />
environment, and water policy. All trips are hosted by a MWDOC/Metropolitan Director.<br />
