Admissions to primary school in 2011 to 2012 St Aidans Catholic Primary School DFE No: 3336 Holmes House Avenue Tel No: 01942 223544 Winstanley Age Range: 4-11 Wigan WN3 6EE Website: www.saintaidansprimary.org.uk/ Headteacher: Mrs Mason Number of pupils on roll May 2010: 373 Admission Number: 45 Admission criteria: Where the number of applications exceeds the number of places available the Governing Body will apply the following over-subscription criteria: 1. Baptised Catholic looked after children. 2. Baptised Catholic children living in the Parish of: St Aidan’s 3. Baptised Catholic Children who have a brother or sister at the school at the time of likely admission. We will include full, half-brothers and halfsisters, step-brothers and step-sisters, and foster brothers and sisters who live at the same address as part of the same family unit. 4. Baptised Catholic children living in other Catholic Parishes. 5. Looked after children who are other than Catholic. 6. Children who are other than Catholic who have a brother or sister at the school at the time of likely admission. We will include full, half-brothers and half-sisters, step-brothers and step-sisters, and foster brothers and sisters who live at the same address as part of the same family unit. 7. Children from other Christian denominations. Proof of Baptism in the form of a Baptismal Certificate or confirmation in writing that the applicant is a member of their Faith community from an appropriate Minister of Religion is required. 8. Children of other faiths. An appropriate Faith Leader would need to confirm in writing that the applicant is a member of their faith group. 9. Children whose parents express a preference for a place at the school. If more children fall into any one category than the number of places left, the Governors will offer places to the children who live nearest to the school. Distance will be measured in a straight line from the child’s home address to the school’s front door, using Wigan Council’s measuring system.
Admissions to primary school in 2011 to 2012 In cases where there are two or more children with the same distance measurement (for example if more than one child lives in a block of flats), where to admit another child would breach the infant class size regulations, a system will be used to randomly pick who will be offered the place. Please contact the school if you would like more information about this. If we offer the last place available to one of twins (or triplets and so on) we will offer the place that is available and you can decide which child will take up the place.
