Admissions to primary school in 2011 to 2012
Tie breaker
If more children fall into a particular category than the number of places left,
the Governors will allocate places to the children who live nearest to the
school measured in a straight line from the child's home address to the centre
of the school using the Local Authority's measuring service based on
ordnance survey.
In cases where there are two or more children with the same distance
measurement (for example if more than one child lives in a block of flats),
where to admit another child would breach the infant class size regulations, a
system will be used to randomly pick who will be offered a place. Please
contact the school if you would like more information about this.
If the last place at the school is for one of twins (or triplets, and so on), the
other twin or triplet will be offered a place too. But it is not possible to do this
if it would mean infant class sizes go above the legal limit. In this situation, we
will offer the place that is available and the parent can decide which child will
take up the place. At the same time the home local authority will tell the
parent which other school could take all the children.
Evidence
Applications falling within the criteria 3 and 4 will be required to submit with
their application a letter from their minister to support the criterion.
