Admission criteria:
1. Children in Public Care;
2. Children who have a brother or sister* attending the school who will
still be there at the time of admission;
3. Children who, with their immediate families, regularly** attend St.
Mary’s Church Lowton.
4. Children who, with their immediate families, regularly** attend
Churches in communion with the Church of England.
5. Other children who have been baptised into the Church of England
or other Churches in communion with the Church of England;
6. Any other children whose parents express a preference for a place
at the school
7. Children living closest to the School, as measured from the child’s
permanent home address in a straight line to the pedestrian gate
entrance to the School on Newton Road using the Local Authority’s
GIS based on Ordnance Survey. (Proof of residence may be
required e.g. Child Benefit Book)
Explanatory Notes:
*‘Brother’ and ‘sister’ includes:
a. Full brothers and sisters;
b. Half-brothers and half-sisters;
c. Stepbrothers and stepsisters; and
d. Foster brothers and sisters
who live at the same address as part of the same family unit.
** ‘Regularly’ for this purpose is defined as ‘has attended a church service at
least once per month, for a minimum of six months in the calendar year prior
to the application for admission being made.’ Such applications would need to
be supported in writing by the appropriate Minister of Religion.
“Immediate family”: Individual parents, carers, grandparents, older siblings,
aunts and uncles or any adult residing in the family home.
