Admissions to primary school in 2011 to 2012 Where to get help Wigan residents If you live in Wigan, the School Places Team at Children and Young People's Services deals with your application for admission to primary school. We will be pleased to help if you have any questions or need more information. This information is also available in other formats and languages on request. You can contact us as follows. Other local authorities If you live in another local authority, your application will be dealt with by your home authority. This is the local authority that collects your council tax. This applies whether you want a school in your home authority or in Wigan. You should contact your home authority’s school admissions service for information about how to apply. If you live outside Wigan, we will consider your application as being on time if it has been received by the closing date set by your home local authority. We will consider your request for a place at a Wigan school as long as you have put a Wigan school down as a first, second or third preference. If any of your preferences are for a Wigan voluntary-aided (church) school we strongly advise you to fill in the school’s own information form as well as your home local authority application form. If you do not fill in the school’s own supplementary information form, the school will not have all the information they need to consider your application against their faith criteria and your child may not be given a place. You can get a copy of the school’s own supplementary information form: from the school; by calling the Wigan School Places Team on 01942 486037; or by downloading one from our website. Please return filled-in information forms for Wigan schools to the individual school.
