<strong>Admission</strong> criteria:<br />

1. Children in public care.<br />

2. Children who will have a brother or sister attending St. Luke’s <strong>School</strong> at<br />

the time of admission.<br />

We will include:<br />

Half-brothers and half-sisters<br />

Stepbrothers andstepsisters<br />

Foster brothers and foster sisters<br />

who live at the same address as part of the same family unit<br />

3. Children whose parents /legal guardians are communicant members of<br />

St. Luke’s Church, Low<strong>to</strong>n and attend at least once a month for the<br />

twelve months prior <strong>to</strong> the closing date for applications (A letter must<br />

accompany applications from the appropriate Clergy).<br />

4. Children whose parents /legal guardians attend churches in fellowship<br />

with the Church of England and attend at least once a month for the<br />

twelve months prior <strong>to</strong> the closing date for applications. (A letter must<br />

accompany applications from the appropriate Clergy).<br />

5. Children who attend a Sunday school or equivalent worship. (A letter<br />

must accompany applications from the appropriate clergy or the<br />

appropriate Sunday <strong>School</strong> Officer)<br />

6. Children who have particular medical, social or pas<strong>to</strong>ral needs which<br />

when proven, indicate that they should attend St. Luke’s <strong>School</strong>. A<br />

supporting letter from a doc<strong>to</strong>r, social worker or clergy member and the<br />

particular needs of the child will be required in support of applications<br />

for these places and must accompany the application form. The letter<br />

should explain why admission <strong>to</strong> this school is necessary for the child’s<br />

well being.<br />

Tie breaker<br />

If more children fall in<strong>to</strong> any one category than the number of places left, the<br />

Governors will offer places <strong>to</strong> the children who live nearest <strong>to</strong> the school.<br />

Distance will be measured in a straight line from the child’s home address <strong>to</strong> a<br />

centre point of the main school building, using <strong>Wigan</strong> <strong>Council</strong>’s measuring<br />

system.
