Admissions to primary school in 2011 to 2012
Delaying entry to primary school
By law, your child does not have to start school until the admission date after their
fifth birthday. The admission dates set by the Government are:
31 August;
31 December; and
31 March.
You can ask to delay the date your child starts primary school until later in the school
year or until your child reaches compulsory school age (the age they must, by law,
start school) in that school year. If you delay entry, we will hold the place open and
not offer it to another child. You cannot delay entry beyond the beginning of the term
after your child’s fifth birthday, or until after the school year for which you originally
applied.
If you want to delay entry beyond the 2011 school year we cannot guarantee that
there will be a place at the school you want.
Attending part-time
You can ask for your child to attend part-time until they reach compulsory school
age.
