Admissions to primary school in 2011 to 2012
return the application form to any Wigan primary school by the closing date, 15
January 2011.
However you apply, we will deal with the other local authority on your behalf.
Please make sure you fill in and return any supplementary information forms
for voluntary-aided schools in other local authorities, as well as the filled-in
Wigan Council primary school application form or online application.
I do not live in Wigan. Can I apply for a place at a Wigan school for
my child
Anyone can apply for a place in a Wigan school. However, you should look at the
admission criteria to see if you have a reasonable chance of getting a place.
Your own local authority will provide you with their application pack. If you want a
place at a Wigan school:
put the name of the school on your own local authority’s primary school
application form; and
apply to your own local authority by the closing date.
Your local authority will deal with us on your behalf.
If any of your preferences is for a Wigan voluntary-aided (church) school,
please get a copy of their supplementary information form and return it to the
school. You can get a copy from our website at www.wigan.gov.uk or from the
school.
Who decides if my child is given a place
Wigan Council decide which children will be offered places at community and
voluntary-controlled primary schools in Wigan. These schools are listed on pages
to in this booklet.
The governors of the school decide which children will be offered places at Wigan
voluntary-aided (church) primary schools. These schools are listed on pages to
in this booklet.
If any of your preferences is for a school in another local authority, that local
authority will consider your application and let us know if your child is given a place.
