happened during the concert. They<br />
played a piece from their own culture,<br />
and then I repeated it. But when I played<br />
something from my culture, they could<br />
not play it back. My favorite artist is<br />
Mozart. He is a great musician. And I<br />
also love Tchaikovsky. He is an unprecedented<br />
musician.<br />

Z.B.: Several artists offered me to sing<br />
together but I did not accept their offer.<br />
For once, I sang my song ‘Hay-hay’ with a<br />

A.İ.: Uzbekistan satisfies all conditions<br />
necessary for musicians and singers,<br />
actually for art in general. The government<br />
provides several opportunities to<br />
prospective artists and skilled people. A<br />
student who wants to be a musician but<br />
cannot afford to receive education can go<br />
to the conservatory for free.<br />

times until today. I first came in 1990<br />
upon the invitation of Turkey and I took<br />
part at the concert held in Atatürk<br />

What would you like to say about the<br />
social and cultural relations between<br />
Turkey and Uzbekistan<br />
A.İ.: I love Turkish art and culture<br />
because Turkish music is a blend. It is a<br />
blend of the world music with its genuine<br />
music. Music and culture has a Turkish<br />
identity as well. When a Turkish music is<br />
heard, everybody knows the origin of it.<br />
As we share the same roots, our music<br />
and culture taste is similar to each other,<br />
and even the same. For example, I can<br />
easily play a Turkish song for you<br />
(laughs).<br />
Z.B.: You have probably observed the<br />
hospitality of our people. You will see the<br />
elegance of our people in cities, villages.<br />
When you get to know to our people, you<br />
will see how sincere and hospitable they<br />
are. You will want to stay in our country<br />
for long.<br />
