C. Outgoing Missions<br />

To promote growth through overseas<br />

expansion, the Trade and Investment FC<br />

researched and identifi ed potential<br />

opportunities in the emerging markets and<br />

led several outgoing missions covering a<br />

spectrum of industries.<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong> Trade and Investment Mission<br />

to Jakarta, Indonesia<br />

(17 - 19 January <strong>2005</strong>)<br />

To reinforce the close relation between<br />

SMa and the <strong>Federation</strong> of Malaysian<br />

Manufacturers (FMM), both federations<br />

co-organised a joint Trade and Investment<br />

Mission to Jakarta. The mission was<br />

supported by International Enterprise<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong> (IE <strong>Singapore</strong>), the Embassy of<br />

Indonesia in <strong>Singapore</strong>, the Malaysian<br />

Industrial Development Authority (MIDA)<br />

and the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce<br />

and Industry (KADIN).<br />

The 89-men delegation was led by Mr Lew<br />

Syn Pau and Datuk Mustafa Mansur,<br />

Presidents of SMa and FMM respectively.<br />

The delegation met up with the new<br />

leaders of Indonesia and gained valuable<br />

insight on the new policies affecting<br />

businesses operating in Indonesia. A total<br />

of 425 business matching meetings and<br />

several networking functions were<br />

arranged to explore opportunities in<br />

procurement, outsourcing, subcontracting,<br />

trade, investment and other areas with the<br />

Indonesian business community.<br />

Apart from deepening the existing tie<br />

between SMa and FMM, this mission also<br />

paved the way for vital future<br />

developments with the respective<br />

Indonesian government offi ces, private<br />

sector and associations and set the stage<br />

for future business expansion in Indonesia<br />

by our members.<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong> Business Mission to Pakistan<br />

(31 January - 4 February <strong>2005</strong>)<br />

Jointly organised by the <strong>Singapore</strong><br />

Business <strong>Federation</strong> (SBF), the Pakistan<br />

High Commission in <strong>Singapore</strong> and the<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong> Pakistan Development Forum<br />

(SPADE Forum), SMa joined the <strong>Singapore</strong><br />

Chinese Chamber of Commerce and<br />

Industry (SCCCI), the <strong>Singapore</strong> Indian<br />

Chamber of Commerce and Industry<br />

(SICCI), the Malay Chamber of Commerce<br />

and Industry (SMCCI) and IE <strong>Singapore</strong> on<br />

this mission to Pakistan. This mission<br />

further boosted the <strong>Singapore</strong>-Pakistan<br />

business collaborations, which had<br />
