Highlights of the event:<br />

To improve the growth and productivity of<br />

the retail industry, particularly the grocery<br />

sector, GS1 <strong>Singapore</strong> successfully<br />

organised the Collaborative Planning,<br />

Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR)<br />

Seminar and Training Workshop for<br />

industry practitioners.<br />

Held at The Enterprise, the event was<br />

jointly organised by Effi cient Consumer<br />

Response (ECR) <strong>Singapore</strong>, GS1<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong>, IDA, SMa and SPRING<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong>. The two and a half days<br />

event was conducted by an expert in<br />

CPFR, Mr Joe Andraski, President and<br />

CEO of Voluntary Interindustry Commerce<br />

Standards (VICS) and Mr Wouter Crul from<br />

Europe who is an expert in continuous<br />

replenishment.<br />

The participants came from a wide range<br />

of industries and sectors including retail,<br />

manufacturing, service, healthcare,<br />

stationeries, food and beverage, paper,<br />

pharmaceutical and logistics. This<br />

successful and timely event prepared<br />

companies to engage retail chains<br />

planning to implement CPFR.<br />

Title: EPCglobal Global Transport &<br />

Logistics Summit<br />

Main Organiser: EPCglobal Inc.<br />

Highlights of the event:<br />

This new Business Action Group hosted<br />

its fi rst Summit in Brussels from 12 to 14<br />

April <strong>2005</strong> and a follow-up meeting in<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong>, at which time the decision to<br />

set up EPCglobal Transport & Logistics<br />

Business Action Group was fi nalised. Its<br />

four sub-working groups are as follows:-<br />

Integration Working Group Session<br />

4 Walls Working Group Session<br />

Import / Export Working Group<br />

Session<br />

Transportation Working Group session<br />

Place: Cape Town, South Africa<br />

Title: GS1 General Assembly<br />

Main Organiser: GS1 Head Offi ce<br />

Highlights of the event:<br />

GS1 <strong>Singapore</strong> Executive Director,<br />

Mr Tan Jin Soon and GS1 <strong>Singapore</strong><br />

General Manager, Ms Rosyati Mohd Said<br />

represented <strong>Singapore</strong> at this GS1 General<br />

Assembly. A total of 350 delegates from<br />

80 countries attended this meeting. The<br />

highlights of the meeting included the<br />

GS1 Branding Strategy; Communication<br />

Strategies and Case Studies; GS1 Budget<br />

and EPCglobal Budget.<br />

Strategies on how to facilitate<br />

communication for a global organization<br />

such as GS1 with more than 100 member<br />

countries and million of users, were<br />

proposed and discussed at length.<br />

Title: EPCglobal / RFID (Radio Frequency<br />

Identifi cation) Forum<br />

Main Organiser: GS1 <strong>Singapore</strong> Council<br />

Highlights of the event:<br />

The EPCglobal / RFID Forum <strong>2005</strong><br />

was successfully held on 8 June at the<br />

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong>. Organised by GS1 <strong>Singapore</strong>,<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong> Manufacturers’ <strong>Federation</strong> and<br />

EPCglobal <strong>Singapore</strong> with a cutting-edge<br />

theme of “EPCglobal, The New Century<br />

Technology”, the event was well supported<br />

by IDA, SPRING <strong>Singapore</strong>, IE <strong>Singapore</strong>,<br />

IT Standards Committee of <strong>Singapore</strong><br />

(ITSC), ECR <strong>Singapore</strong>, the Association<br />

for Automatic Identifi cation and Mobility<br />

and Spartan System (S) Pte Ltd, and<br />

sponsored by SATO Asia Pacifi c Pte Ltd,<br />

Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard and<br />

Printronix Inc.<br />

It was also held in conjunction with the<br />

plenary meetings of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC31<br />

Automatic Data Identifi cation and Capture<br />

Techniques, which ran from 9 to 10 June<br />

to facilitate delegates’ participation at<br />

the plenary and working group meetings<br />

and the forum. More than 300 delegates<br />

attended the EPCglobal / RFID Forum<br />

<strong>2005</strong> which saw an impressive line-up of<br />

international speakers.<br />
