LIFESTYLE INDUSTRY GROUP (LFS)<br />
SMa Lifestyle Industry Group (LFS) sets the following objectives for<br />
the Term 2004 / 2006:<br />
To promote networking through social programmes and<br />
programmes related to the lifestyle & lifestyle-related industry<br />
To create opportunities for business development through trade<br />
missions, exhibitions and networking sessions.<br />
LFS met every month to plan a variety of programmes, seminars,<br />
talks and activities for its members to network and to promote the<br />
interest of LFS.<br />
HIGHLIGHTS<br />
LFS meetings were mostly held at the premises of<br />
its committee members. Eu Yan Sang International<br />
Ltd hosted the fi rst Lifestyle Committee Meeting on<br />
20 January <strong>2005</strong>. After discussing at length the<br />
year’s events & programmes, committee members<br />
were treated to the famous “Tea-Leaf Egg” and tea<br />
by Eu Yan Sang.<br />

In September <strong>2005</strong>, the IG bid farewell to its<br />
Deputy Chairperson, Mdm Tan Lay Keow of<br />
Everfi rst Pte Ltd. The IG then elected its new<br />
Deputy Chairman, Mr Justin Tan of The Seafood<br />
International Market & Restaurant Pte Ltd on 26<br />
October <strong>2005</strong>.<br />
To whet members’ appetite for durians and to<br />
create networking opportunities, LFS organised<br />
a “Durian Appreciation Nite” at the premise of<br />
FarEastFlora at Thomson Road on 31 May <strong>2005</strong>,<br />
after its committee meeting there.<br />
Mr Alun Chow of 101 Fresh Fruits Trading<br />
enlightened on the know-how of selecting good<br />
durians. Response from participants was overwhelming<br />
as everyone present was treated to<br />
different grades & types of durians, including<br />
the famous D24 durians. Many left with bags of<br />
durians bought at special wholesale price from<br />
101 Fresh Fruits Trading.<br />
Before the year drew to a close, LFS held its<br />
last committee meeting at SMa premise on<br />
29 November <strong>2005</strong> to discuss 2006 events<br />
& programmes. A major plan in 2006 was<br />
to organise a trade mission to China in mid-<br />
February 2006 for LFS members. Following the<br />
meeting, a “Travel Forum” was held jointly with<br />
OAG to educate participants on the ease of<br />
on-line fl ight and hotel booking. Fabulous prizes<br />
such as Christian Dior watches were won by<br />
participants.<br />
LFS committee members toured the Royal<br />
Selangor Pewter Centre showroom on 2<br />
June <strong>2005</strong>, after its committee meeting at the<br />
premise located at Clarke Quay. Besides the<br />
rare opportunity to make their own pewter<br />
dish, each committee member went home<br />
with their individualized creation, a certifi cate of<br />
