Chapter 3: Installation<br />

♦ SNMP traps service for Windows NT if SNMP traps notification is<br />

desired.<br />

♦ TCP/IP with a valid IP assigned to each controller/subsystem.<br />

♦ A fax modem that supports Hayes AT command protocol is required (if<br />

using the fax event notification function.) (Fax command class 2.0 and<br />

above.)<br />

♦ A GSM modem is required (if using the SMS short message event<br />

notification function). <strong>RAIDWatch</strong> currently supports two GSM modem<br />

3.2 RAID Chart<br />

Before installing <strong>RAIDWatch</strong> and its various agents and modules, it is<br />

helpful to chart your RAID subsystems. If you operate a single RAID<br />

subsystem from a local or remote workstation, you may skip this section. If<br />

you have multiple RAID subsystems, the information shown in Table 3-1<br />

provides guidelines for charting existing RAID subsystems. Each field is<br />

explained follows the table.<br />
