ENGINE PERFORMANCE COURSE
COURSE OBJECTIVE
After completing this training participants should be able to maximize the performance of
the engines under their supervision, maintain the engine in a safe manner and make more
effective contribution to the operation of the machinery. Respond correctly, by means of
observing and analysing the operating data, given parameters, engine output and ambient
condition where the engine is operating, thereby reducing breakdown and maintenance
cost. This course may also be delivered using other brands of engine.
CONTENT OF THE COURSE
• Design and function of scavenge air cooler
• Effects of dirty air cooler, condensed water
• Engine power estimation
• Diesel engine combustion process
• Correction of performance parameters, specification of fuel, fuel oil calculation
• Cylinder liner/ piston rings condition analysis
• Testing and calibration of fuel injection equipment
• Fuel and lube oil management
• Case scenarios in the engine simulator

Management level engineers.
