MARINE HIGH VOLTAGE<br />
COURSE OBJECTIVE<br />
The trainees are able to understand the working principles and operational function of each<br />
HV electrical system of the ship’s power plant, enabling them to operate the plant in a safe<br />
and more effective way.<br />
CONTENT OF THE COURSE<br />
• Pertinent regulatory matters (IMO, flag state, company specific)<br />
• Electrification<br />
• Regulations<br />
• Alternators and Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR’s)<br />
• Medium voltage switchgears<br />
• Hands-on exercises<br />
• MV / LV transformers<br />
• Power distribution<br />
• Safety of operations<br />
• CPR and first aid, electrical injuries<br />
PREREQUISITES<br />
The trainees should have a basic knowledge and fundamental practical experience of<br />
marine electrical design. Operational experience is very helpful. Formal theoretical education<br />
in electrical engineering is preferred.<br />
