MAIN ENGINE 4-STROKE MEDIUM-SPEED TRAINING<br />

COURSE OBJECTIVE<br />

On completion of the Medium-Speed Main Engine (MSME) training course the trainees<br />

shall be able to maintain the auxiliary engine (medium-speed) system in a safer way<br />

and effectively operate all medium-speed engines. During the MSME training course the<br />

trainees will be thoroughly familiarized with all procedures concerning the most common<br />

maintenance work on the medium-speed engine system equipment and with planning<br />

efficient maintenance.<br />

CONTENT OF THE COURSE<br />

• Introduction<br />

• Engine block and crankshaft<br />

• Cylinder liners and pistons<br />

• Turbocharger and air cooling<br />

• Fuel oil system<br />

• Cooling water system<br />

• Hands-on training on 4-stroke engine and engine simulator<br />

PREREQUISITES<br />

The trainees should have basic knowledge of the auxiliary engine (medium speed) systems,<br />

and some operational experience of these systems. Formal theoretical education in marine<br />

engineering is preferred but not mandatory.<br />
