COURSE OBJECTIVE<br />
To explain the purpose of turbochargers as they relate to engine performance. Identifying<br />
the main components of ABB VTR and TPL turbochargers and describing their function.<br />
Enumerating and describing the maintenance schedules and procedures. Performing the<br />
required overhauling and inspection of ABB VTR 454 properly and safely.<br />

• Principles of turbocharger operation<br />
• The main difference between ABB’s VTR and TPL turbochargers<br />
• Identification and function of main components<br />
• Maintenance schedule<br />
• Wet and dry cleaning of turbochargers<br />
• Hands-on training on VTR 454 turbocharger<br />
PREREQUISITES<br />
The participants should preferably have a BSc education in engineering (mechanical or<br />
electrical) or marine engineering, and sufficient operational experience of diesel engines in<br />
different applications.<br />
