page 9 MAIN ENTRANCE The new entrance will use landscaping and signage to draw the public away from the old entrance. The permanent link, new entrance and lobby will be the final part of the new build where the current Stainton Block is. Demolition of the Stainton Block should take place around August 2013 with completion in 4-6 months. 13 11 MARCH Approval of Design JUNE Selection of Construction Contract AUGUST CONSTRUCTION OF CLINICAL SERvICES BUILDING (2011 - 2013) AUGUST Services Move to New Building NOVEMBER DEMOLITION OF EXISTING WARD BLOCK - BUILD LINK TO REST OF SITE What will the new building have • Six new operating theatres (an increase of two) • Five new 30 bed wards and one new 22 bed ward – an increase of 26 beds to a potential bed capacity of 172 • Each of the 30 bed wards will have 14 single rooms with en-suites and 4 x 4 bed rooms, each with ensuites • A new 22 bed capacity paediatric ward consisting of 2 x 4 bed rooms, 2 acute assessment beds, 2 short stay rooms and 10 single rooms with ensuites • New 30 bed capacity Older Persons Assessment and Rehabilitation inpatient ward • New sterile services department • New combined theatre suite, including ambulatory day surgery and day procedure services
