Soils were classified according to the System of Soil<br />

Classification for Canada (1970) .<br />

The classification of perennially<br />

frozen cryoturbed soils was difficult because these soils are not<br />

adequately accommodated in the present Canadian classification system .<br />

The above system was, however, adapted to classify these cryoturbed<br />

soils using an asterisk (*)<br />

to indicate that,while they deviate<br />

greatly from the name assigned to them,<br />

they do have the basic<br />

characteristics of this group of soils .
