ECLTING EXAMINATION CHECK OFF LIST I Page 1 <strong>of</strong> 3<br />

1. The ISI Examiner snail have sufficient light to resolve<br />

a 1/32' inch black line on *n 18% neutral grey card at<br />

a distance no greater than 24 inches with an eye angle<br />

not less than 30 degrees from the surface to be examined.<br />

2. For bolting greater than 2" ir. diameter, the ISI Examiner<br />

shall visually examine washers on the reactor vessel and<br />

nuts and washers on piping, pumps and valves <strong>In</strong> place or<br />

when removed. Bushings and flange surfaces shall be examined<br />

when the connection is disassembled. Flange aurfaces<br />

shall only be examined foe piping, pumps and valves and<br />

shall be limited to a 1" annular surface surrounding each<br />

stud.<br />

3. For bolting 2' and less in diameter, the bolts, studs and<br />

nuts shall be examined in place or when removed, The bolting<br />

associated with CRE housings shall be examined only<br />

when disassembled.<br />

The belting described in steps 2 and 3 shall be examined<br />

for deficiencies as listed on data sheet. If a deficiency<br />

exists, check appropriate box. The following conditions<br />

shall be considered unacceptable if detected by the<br />

Examiner:<br />

a) crack-lilte indications that exceed 1/4* in length<br />

non-axially or 1" in length axially;<br />

a) more than one deformed or sheared thread in the zone<br />

<strong>of</strong> thread engagement <strong>of</strong> bolts, studs, or nuts;<br />

c) localized general corrosion that reduces the bolt or<br />

stjd cross-sectional area by more tnan 5%;<br />

d) bending, twisting, or deformation <strong>of</strong> bolts or studs<br />

to the extent that assembly or disassembly is impaired;<br />

e) missing or loose bolts, studs, nuts, or washers;<br />
