Pressure retaining welds in vessel.<br />

AREAS SUBJECT TO EXAMINATIONS:<br />

CLASS I CODE CATEGORY 6-8<br />

Longitudinal and circumferential welds in vessel shell ana meridional and<br />

circumferential welds in vessel heads. This includes weld metal and case<br />

metal for one plate thickness beyond the edge <strong>of</strong> weld.<br />

EXTENT AND FREQUENCY OF EXAMINATIONS:<br />

The required examinations performed during each inspection interval shall<br />

cover at least 10X <strong>of</strong> the length <strong>of</strong> each longitudinal shell weia and<br />

meridional head weld and 5% <strong>of</strong> the length <strong>of</strong> each circumferential shell and<br />

head weld. For welds on the reactor vessel, examinations may be "performed at<br />

or near the end <strong>of</strong> each inspection interval.<br />

COMMENTS:<br />

The following welds were examined during PSI: Top head dollar weld segment<br />

welds in top head, outer segment welds in bottom head, outer ring to inner<br />

ring weld in bottom head, vertical welds in Course 4, and circumferential weld<br />

between Course 3 and Course 4. No indications requiring evaluation in<br />

accordance with IS-311 <strong>of</strong> ASME Section XI were observed. Oue to<br />

nonaccessibility <strong>of</strong> the majority <strong>of</strong> Category B-B welds, the entire ISI<br />

requirements for circumferential and longitudinal welds will be accomplished<br />

on the accessible welds.<br />

Vertical Seam welds VLC-88-1,2 and 3 receive best effort examinations at the<br />

same time VC8-88-4 is examined and are recorded on trie same data sheet<br />

delineating the extent to which the examination <strong>of</strong> VLC-88-1,2 and 3 were<br />

performed.<br />

During the ex ami nation <strong>of</strong> the vessel support skirt weld HNC-C1-1, 2, and 3,<br />

the bottom head welds HM8-8B-1,2,3,4,5, and 6 receive examinations from the<br />

support skirt weld HNC-Cl-1,2, and 3 to the bottom head circumferential weid<br />

HMC-8B-1 to the extent possible.<br />
