The City <strong>of</strong> Calgary, Seniors <strong>Services</strong> Division<br />

provides a wide range <strong>of</strong> services for seniors<br />

from direct services to community development.<br />

CITY LINKS pROgRAMS<br />

• home Maintenance <strong>Services</strong><br />

City Links assists low income seniors to live<br />

safely and independently in their own<br />

homes. The program provides basic yard<br />

care, snow removal, house cleaning,<br />

interior/exterior painting and minor repairs.<br />

Home maintenance services are provided by<br />

City Links trainees under the supervision <strong>of</strong><br />

city staff.<br />

Who is Eligible for the Program:<br />

Seniors (65+) who are:<br />

• Living on low incomes (income will be<br />

verified) and if homeowners, own no<br />

other property<br />

• Unable to do basic house or yard work<br />

• Without family or community assistance<br />

Generally, there is a waiting period for all<br />

services with the exception <strong>of</strong> emergency<br />

situations.<br />

• Employment preparation and Training<br />

City Links provides a safe and supportive<br />

work environment where men and women<br />

experiencing barriers to employment can<br />

receive paid work experience, vocational<br />

counseling, life management instructions,<br />

CPR and First Aid Training. Workers provide<br />

home maintenance to low-income seniors.<br />

City Links welcomes new trainees who are<br />

18 years <strong>of</strong> age and older and are able to<br />

perform physical work and who speak and<br />

understand intermediate English.<br />

Employment opportunities are available<br />

throughout the year. No referral is necessary<br />

and prospective workers can call 403-974-3112<br />

and ask to speak to someone on the hiring<br />

team for additional information and/or an<br />

interview.<br />
