• Provides care in the community for individuals<br />
who are frail, ill, injured or recovering<br />
from a hospital stay.<br />
• Provides assessment and referral to care centres,<br />
personal care homes, and designated<br />
assisted living sites.<br />
• <strong>Services</strong> include nursing, physical therapy,<br />
occupational therapy, nutritional counselling,<br />
social work, respiratory therapy, and<br />
speech-language services. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional services<br />
are paid for by Alberta Health.<br />
• Homemaking or self-care (bathing, etc.)<br />
services may be provided to some clients<br />
who receive other services. There may be a<br />
small charge for these services.<br />
pRIVATE hOME CARE<br />
• Home support companies provide R.N.s<br />
and nurses aids. Where there is a medical<br />
referral, Alberta Blue Cross will pay<br />
$200/family per benefit year for services <strong>of</strong> a<br />
