Using the Caché Monitor
The Caché Monitor includes facilities to monitor system errors, as well as system- and user-defined metrics. This chapter
discusses the following Caché Monitor facilities, which help you manage the Caché Monitor and notify users about these
errors and metrics:
• Caché System Monitor
• Caché Application Monitor
3.1 Caché System Monitor
The Caché System Monitor (System Monitor) monitors the system for errors and traps reported in the cconsole.log file by
Caché daemons and user processes.
By default the System Monitor scans the cconsole.log file (by default, located in the install-dir\Mgr directory) at five (5)
second intervals. When it finds severe- or fatal-level errors/traps, it creates a file named alerts.log (located in the same
directory as the cconsole.log file), in which it writes the notification.
This section discusses the following topics:
• System Monitor Manager – information about managing the System Monitor, including how to modify the default
notification settings
• System Monitor Messages – information about the system traps that are handled by the System Monitor
3.1.1 System Monitor Manager
The System Monitor Manager (^MONMGR) is an interactive utility that lets you manage the System Monitor and modify
notification settings. It must be executed in the %SYS namespace, and the name is case-sensitive.
1. To start the System Monitor Manager, enter the following command in the Caché Terminal:
%SYS> do ^MONMGR
2. The main menu appears. Enter the number of your choice or press Enter to exit the System Monitor Manager:
1) Start/Stop/Update MONITOR
2) Manage MONITOR Options
3) Exit
