3.2.3. Structure of the diagnostic radiology facility<br />

3.2.3.1. Personnel<br />

The audit team should:<br />

Review the range of staff employed or contracted by the facility, for<br />

example, radiological medical practitioners, radiographers, technical<br />

assistants, sonographers, medical physicists, nurses, administrators, clerks,<br />

engineers, computer technicians and IT support staff;<br />

Review the number of trainee and supervisory staff if applicable;<br />

Discuss with management the local/national qualification requirements for<br />

staff positions, and how these are met and documented;<br />

Review evidence of training policies, and discuss with staff their experience<br />

with training for the use of routine and new equipment/technology;<br />

Discuss with staff the supervision that they receive;<br />

Review documentation with regard to staff management, including<br />

recruitment, individual job descriptions and orientation programmes for<br />

new staff;<br />

Review evidence of staff performance appraisals;<br />

Confirm documented CPD for all staff members;<br />

Examine records of the contents of, and attendance at, facility/institutional<br />

meetings and audits;<br />

Confirm with staff their access to a library and other teaching materials;<br />

Confirm with staff their participation in CPD, through internal or external<br />

programmes;<br />

Confirm that individual personnel records are kept;<br />

If applicable, discuss with staff involved in teaching and/or research their<br />

roles and responsibilities, and the mechanisms used to meet professional<br />

supervision.<br />

3.2.3.2. Facility organization and management<br />

The audit team should:<br />

Discuss with senior management their commitment to QA and quality<br />

improvement for the facility, and their planning for use of resources;<br />

Review the quality manual for documentation of commitment to quality<br />

management;<br />
