5. TECHNICAL PROCEDURES<br />

5.1. PRINCIPLES AND CRITERIA FOR GOOD PRACTICE<br />

The principles and criteria for good practice of the technical aspects of<br />

radiology involve the available facility infrastructure, radiation protection and<br />

safety, imaging equipment QA processes, optimization in clinical practice,<br />

dosimetry, and instrumentation and calibration. All policies and procedures<br />

should be documented and regularly updated, and be available to staff at all<br />

times.<br />

The imaging modalities and auxiliary support equipment used in radiology<br />

include the following:<br />

—Plain radiography;<br />

—Fluoroscopy;<br />

—Image guided interventional procedures;<br />

—Mammography;<br />

—Computed tomography;<br />

—Dental radiography;<br />

—Ultrasonography;<br />

—Magnetic resonance imaging;<br />
