Coverage of 3G UMTS networks in Spain
Coverage of UMTS 3rd generation mobile phone progresses in a
satisfactory way
In the last few years, mobile operators and MITyC have undertaken a
great investment effort geared at developing 3G technology networks:
• 24,873 active 3G/UMTS base stations in 2008, 32.9% of total
mobile telephony base stations in Spain.
• 3G networks coverage reaches 90.3% of Spanish inhabitants,
according to CMT 2008 figures.
14.8 Terabytes of data traffic in mobile networks in 2008,
215.7% increase from data traffic in 2007, principally due to mobile
Internet.
