IDATE – Broadband <strong>in</strong> Europe report, December 2008<br />

• Spa<strong>in</strong> is the leader across Europe <strong>in</strong> fixed broadband speed: 83% of total Broadband l<strong>in</strong>es have<br />

a speed higher than 2 Mbps. <strong>The</strong> second country is <strong>The</strong> Netherlands, with a 63% (20 po<strong>in</strong>ts below<br />

Spa<strong>in</strong>).<br />

• Spa<strong>in</strong> is the leader of the EU <strong>in</strong> terms of high speed Internet mobile penetration, way ahead of<br />

countries like Italy or Germany.<br />

• Prices for telecom services have fallen by -3.5% <strong>in</strong> the year up to March 2008. Relevant role <strong>in</strong> the<br />

Spanish economy’s <strong>in</strong>flationary restra<strong>in</strong>t.<br />
