Digitisation of Civil Registries in EU good practices´portal (epractice.eu) 04/08/2009
• The Civil Registry Online program is highlighted as an example of a good practice in epractice.eu, an
EU-based web portal aimed at fostering the participation and diffusion of experiences amongst users in
the field of Electronic Administration. The portal stresses the huge economic resources of the program,
as well as the benefits obtained in terms of simplification, efficiency and higher quality levels of services
provided.

• Planet 51 is the first animation film from Ilion, an ambitious attempt to take on US animation giants.
Some data bearing witness to such challenge: there are 440 characters in the film, far more than in any
other animated movie; a pioneering facial- animation system (called Mask Creator), has been developed.
It has 300 points of control on the face, allowing for more expressions than other systems.
The elaboration of the film has been supported by a Plan AVANZA subsidy (i.e., a € 2 MM project aimed
to the generation of new 3D animation tools.
