Moving forward to Develop the Information Society in Spain: Main Highlights & Results 38
• Plan Avanza has been designed to place Spain on a top position within the Information and Knowledge Society, to improve its economic productivity and the general welfare of all Spanish citizens. • The budget for the Plan in the period 2005 – 2009 surpasses 6.5 billion €, five times as much as the amount devoted to information Society initiatives in the previous four years. • Results so far show that measures put in place since late 2005 are - indeed- the best way to go. • All areas in Avanza will be reinforced since 2009, for the Plan AvanzaDos to surpass its global goals in 2012 – and beyond. 39
