Electronic ID Cards
Over 13 million Spaniards already hold their e-ID Card (over 27.5% of the population).
Pilot project started in March 2006 – fully launched in June’07
100% of provinces and police stations are now equipped and trained to issue e-ID cards.
Spain has become world’s leader of electronic signature holders (over 15 million).

Tax declaration and payment, civil registration, work history…
6.9 million citizens have performed
their tax-declaration on-line in 2009, a
22.9% higher than 2008, thus
making up 35% of all declarations.
4.2 million citizens used a digital
certificate to interact with Public
