Passionate<br />
Sister Catherine Lim Poh Eng joined the Singapore<br />
Teachers’ Union (STU) in 1986, and was elected to<br />
the Central Council in 1997. She has been serving<br />
STU’s members for more than 27 years.<br />
Passionate about her union work and<br />
well-connected to the ground, Sister<br />
Catherine is in a strong position<br />
to provide timely feedback and<br />
highlight concerns on the ground to<br />
the management.<br />
Sister Catherine has always taken the lead in<br />
rallying members to participate in events<br />
organised by the union, many of which she<br />
organised or was involved in. She is ever<br />
willing to help in the operations of the union,<br />
and provide feedback to improve the union’s<br />
activities and initiatives.<br />
Sister Catherine also serves in the <strong>NTUC</strong><br />
Women’s Committee. With her zeal for<br />
reaching out to women members to join<br />
in activities organised by the Women’s<br />
Committee and improving their welfare,<br />
Sister Catherine is a vital link between the<br />
Women’s Committee and the union.<br />
In recognition of her positive contributions<br />
to STU and fellow workers, the National<br />
Trades Union Congress is pleased to<br />
present Sister Catherine Lim Poh Eng with<br />
the Comrade of Labour Award.<br />
