PROFESSOR TAN CHENG HAN

FRIEND OF LABOUR AWARD
Professor Tan Cheng Han’s appointment as Director of NTUC Income
Insurance Co-operative Limited (NTUC Income) in 2005 saw him bringing
to the Board more than 15 years of experience both as a legal counsel, as
well as a tutor and lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the National University
of Singapore. He was Dean of the Faculty of Law until 2012, and currently
teaches there.
Brother Cheng Han has served as a Director of NTUC Income for more than
seven years. He has also served in the Audit Committee since 2005, and is
the Chairman of both the Nominating Committee, and Human Resource &
Remuneration Committee (HRRC).
Legal
Expertise
Under his able leadership, both committees discharge their
duties and responsibilities effectively, in full compliance
with the relevant regulations and guidelines.
As the only Director with legal
expertise, Brother Cheng Han
provides valuable guidance and
advice in the interpretation of relevant
laws. He also provides the legal
perspective to issues discussed at
Board meetings which has helped
the Board in its decision-making. As
a member of the By-Laws Review
Committee, Brother Cheng Han
played an active role in guiding the
co-operative in its major By-Laws
review exercise conducted
in 2010.
Brother Cheng Han is also the Chairman of the
Advisory Committee on Move-On and Film Orders, a
Commissioner of the Competition Commission of Singapore,
and a Board Member of several listed companies.
In recognition of his invaluable contributions, the National
Trades Union Congress is pleased to present Professor Tan
Cheng Han with the Friend of Labour Award.
