FRIEND OF LABOUR AWARD<br />
Professor Tan Cheng Han’s appointment as Director of <strong>NTUC</strong> Income<br />
Insurance Co-operative Limited (<strong>NTUC</strong> Income) in 2005 saw him bringing<br />
to the Board more than 15 years of experience both as a legal counsel, as<br />
well as a tutor and lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the National University<br />
of Singapore. He was Dean of the Faculty of Law until 2012, and currently<br />
teaches there.<br />
Brother Cheng Han has served as a Director of <strong>NTUC</strong> Income for more than<br />
seven years. He has also served in the Audit Committee since 2005, and is<br />
the Chairman of both the Nominating Committee, and Human Resource &<br />
Remuneration Committee (HRRC).<br />
Legal<br />
Expertise<br />
Under his able leadership, both committees discharge their<br />
duties and responsibilities effectively, in full compliance<br />
with the relevant regulations and guidelines.<br />
As the only Director with legal<br />
expertise, Brother Cheng Han<br />
provides valuable guidance and<br />
advice in the interpretation of relevant<br />
laws. He also provides the legal<br />
perspective to issues discussed at<br />
Board meetings which has helped<br />
the Board in its decision-making. As<br />
a member of the By-Laws Review<br />
Committee, Brother Cheng Han<br />
played an active role in guiding the<br />
co-operative in its major By-Laws<br />
review exercise conducted<br />
in 2010.<br />
Brother Cheng Han is also the Chairman of the<br />
Advisory Committee on Move-On and Film Orders, a<br />
Commissioner of the Competition Commission of Singapore,<br />
and a Board Member of several listed companies.<br />
In recognition of his invaluable contributions, the National<br />
Trades Union Congress is pleased to present Professor Tan<br />
Cheng Han with the Friend of Labour Award.<br />
