MEDAL OF COMMENDATION AWARD
Brother Andrew Tan Kok Kiong strongly believes in close
collaboration with the Amalgamated Union of Public Daily
Rated Workers (AUPDRW). Under his able leadership, Brother
Andrew brought the union-management partnership to a new
height, and introduced many improvements for the dailyrated
employees of the National Environment Agency (NEA).
Brother Andrew has built strong bonds, and fostered mutual
trust and respect with the union within a short period of time
since he took over as Chief Executive Officer in 2009.
The improvements for the daily-rated
employees include re-designing the job
scope to improve basic wage increases
impacting more than 600 members,
salary adjustments of 10 to 12 per cent,
and increasing the hardship allowance
and flexible benefits in the renewal of the
second collective agreement in 2010.
Brother Andrew has helped the union to raise monies for
members’ welfare through the Island Semakau Run in
2010, and sale of AUPDRW Commemorative Book. He
has supported union events and activities, including Union
Education Bursaries, NTUC 50th Anniversary Dinner, and skills
upgrading courses.

Collaboration
Brother Andrew has led NEA to many achievements. This
includes the NTUC May Day Model Partnership Award in
2010, 2011 and 2012, the prestigious American Association
of Retired Persons Best Employer for Mature Workers Award
in 2011, and Singapore HR Award for Employment of Mature
Employees in 2011.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the National
Trades Union Congress is pleased to present Brother Andrew
Tan Kok Kiong with the Medal of Commendation Award.
