Technology transfer centers<br />
The primary function of technology transfer centers (TTC)<br />
is to create l<strong>in</strong>ks between the worlds of science and bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
and to commercialize scientific outputs. They contribute<br />
strongly to the <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>novation and competitiveness of<br />
enterprises and regional economies.<br />
Their activities are focused on rais<strong>in</strong>g awareness about the<br />
research be<strong>in</strong>g conducted, acquir<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess partners and<br />
commercializ<strong>in</strong>g the results of the research work.<br />
They are often attached to academic centers and support<br />
academic entrepreneurship, deal with the universities’<br />
<strong>in</strong>novation and patent policies as well the matters of<br />
<strong>in</strong>tellectual property (copyrights, property rights). Usually,<br />
Polish TTCs are non-profit organizations.<br />
In mid-2010, 90 technology transfer centers were active<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>Poland</strong>. Their key partners are enterprises seek<strong>in</strong>g<br />
consultancy and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g services, cooperation with the<br />
scientific community, aid <strong>in</strong> establish<strong>in</strong>g and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
contacts, and technology transfer and commercialization.<br />
The possibilities of undertak<strong>in</strong>g jo<strong>in</strong>t efforts with the<br />
scientific community and help <strong>in</strong> prepar<strong>in</strong>g grant applications<br />
are also of high importance.<br />
