In June 2011, MWCI received the “Podlasie Innovator 2011” statuette in the Institution Supporting Innovation category. The Innovative Eastern Poland Association coordinates the activities of the International Innovation Centre of East (IICoE) and the Medical Cluster of Eastern Poland, operating in the fields of biomedical engineering, medical technologies, biotechnology, healthcare and ICT. The Center’s mission consists of improving the competitive edge of the region’s businesses by developing an innovation system that facilitates the international transfer of technology and innovation. Its strategic goal is to become a leader in the field of organizing and coordinating joint economic ventures in the area of advanced technologies in Podlasie and other regions of Eastern Poland. This includes partnering with the North-Eastern macroregion which extends to Russia, the Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine. MWCI offers opportunities to find partners for cooperation in the field of research and development, organizes meetings of professionals who are designing and implementing state-of-the-art technologies, particularly in Eastern Europe, helps find recipients for advanced technologies and innovative solutions and facilitates the process of bringing innovations to production. The center is designed for various organizations, businesses, institutions, and research centers interested in cooperation and commercialization of innovative technology solutions. 52

ŚCITT participates in the National Service System, innovation networks (national KSI and European EEN), and develops and implements regional development projects in three key fields: regional innovation systems, information society and renewable energy sources. ŚCITT services, which are often offered free of charge, also include consulting with regard to applications for funding of investment initiatives from structural funds, as well as a range of other consulting services: general (e.g. possibilities of using renewable energy sources) and pro-innovation consulting services (e.g. technology audits, searching for new partners in both business and R&D), providing information and training (e.g. quality management, effective energy use, innovative problem solving, public–private partnerships and more). ŚCITT services are implemented based on PN-EN ISO 9001:2009 standard. ŚCITT has received prestigious prizes such as Innovation Certificate 2009, Innovation Certificate 2005 and “Polish Market” CENT FOR FUTURE. Within five years ŚCITT plans to be a powerful consulting organization, offering a full range of services for businesses and local government entities. It hopes to serve the public by maintaining the highest quality standards while working for the development of the region and entrepreneurial activity. 53
