Price Determination in the Australian Food Industry A Report The complexity of issues across the food industry sectors in Australia and the intensity of competition within the food retail market have contributed to relationships between farm-gate and retail food prices that are not well understood or easily explained. Price Determination in the Australian Food Industry shows it can be misleading to directly compare farm-gate and retail prices because of the range of factors that determine food prices. The report provides a detailed examination of retail to farm-gate price comparisons, identifies the factors determining prices and analyses the performance of Australian food companies. It presents valuable and in-depth analysis of the price determinants across 15 food product groups.
